| We got our first cat back in 1990. It was a black smoke Persian called Ib. He was a bit wrong according to the standard, but perfect by our opinion. His nose was a bit too long, but it didn't matter because his personality was just as big. Next year we got a British Shorthair called Tøsen. She and Ib had a good time together.
When Tøsen was about 1½ years old we found a suitable male cat and nature did its job. Our first litter was four lovely kittens, all with a different pattern. we kept a blue silver classic tabby female cat because we fell in love with both the cat and the color. She were to be our ancestress in the breed, and we only wanted to breed classic tabby cats.
Today we have raised the standards in our breed, so that some of the qualities we approve of in our breed, beside temperament and the fluffy look is the green eyes and the very distinctive tabby pattern. We try to optimize the pattern, so the cats in addition to the three dark stripes down their backshave a butterfly on each side, too. Finally they are to have a circular dark spot in the middle of the pattern on each side.It is perfect if there is a light spot, like an eye of a peacock butterfly, in two of the wings of the butterfly.
We began to look after a suitable male cat, but it was very hard! In 1996 we got in contact with a breeder from Austria who was willing to sell us a male catwhen he thought he had one that was good enough. It took almost four years before we got the news:We could buy the cat. In the meantime our female cat had died, way to early - she was only 5 years old.
Everybody loved Dino and he got his certificates every time he was at a show. We have been to Austria one more time, since then, to buy a new female cat for our breed. We have also been in Germany to buy both a female and a male cat.
At the moment we have two males and three females; the four of them is our own breed, while the fifthis "Maßcat's Silver Vivian" from Germany.
As you might have figured out we live with our cats. The kittens are born in our bedroom and spend the first five to six weeks in there. Then they are old enough to crawl over our barrier in the door. Out in the house is the rest of the cats, but during the first or second day, thekittens have let everybody know that they are in charge. |
